The government has decided to reopen public universities from May 24 next.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni revealed the information at a virtual press conference on Monday afternoon.
She said resident halls of the universities will reopen from May 17 while classes will resume on May 24.
The minister also said all the resident students, teachers and employees will be vaccinated against coronavirus by May 17.
She said the decision about the reopening of schools and colleges will be taken after February 28.
On February 14, the government extended the closure of all educational institutions except Qawmi madrasas until February 28 due to the prevalence of coronavirus.
On March 16 last year, the government closed all the educational institutions to contain the virus.
Later, the closure was extended in several phases.
Meanwhile, last year's HSC and equivalent, Junior School Certificate (JSC), Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC), Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee and annual examinations at the secondary level were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
