The defeated BNP candidate in the Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) election has filed a case with a court against nine people, including Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda and CCC Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, seeking cancellation of the polls.
Dr Shahadat Hossain filed the case with the court of Joint District and Session’s Judge Mohammad Khairul Amin on Wednesday bringing allegations of irregularities in the polls.
Confirming the matter, Chattogram city BNP Office Secretary Idris Ali said Rezaul Karim was made the main accused in the case.
The returning officer of the election and six other mayoral candidates were the other accused.
The CCC election was held on January 17 last amid stray incidents of violence and allegations of vote rigging.
