Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday directed for taking necessary measures after identifying why the number of male students is decreasing in educational institutions.
She made the directive while inaugurating the distribution of stipend, tuition fee, admission assistance and treatment grants for poor and meritorious students from the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust in the morning.
The prime minister joined the programme through videoconferencing from her official residence Ganobhaban.
She said the Awami League government always wanted the expansion of the education sector. “The literacy rate is 74.4 per cent at present.”
Sheikh Hasina said the government has put emphasis on science and technical education to create skilled manpower.
She also said there is no alternative to a proper education system to maintain the trend of developing country.
The prime minister also urged the affluent section of the society to come forward for the development and expansion of education.
