Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will sell onion for Tk 25 a kg from Saturday.
He came up with the remarks while addressing a press conference on the current trade and business situation at the Commerce Ministry on Thursday.
The TCB price of the cooking ingredient was Tk 35 so far.
The minister said given the stock of essential items in the country, there will be no crisis in the next four months.
Besides, export-import activities through Benapole, Hili, Darshana and Biral ports will resume soon, he said.
Tipu Munshi thanked City Group and Meghna Group for reducing the prices of their products at the request of the Commerce Ministry.
About the opening of shopping malls, he said the government is considering issuing directives for area-wise shopping.
