Twenty-three more policemen left Central Police Hospital at Rajarbagh on Tuesday after recovering from coronavirus.

They were greeted with flowers while leaving the hospital.

With this, 298 police personnel have so far made full recovery from the disease.

“Thanks to improved treatment, intensive care and round-the-clock supervision of higher authorities, policemen infected by coronavirus are gradually recovering,” said Assistant Inspector General (AIG-Media) of Police Headquarters Md Sohel Rana.

According to medical protocol of the IEDCR, the policemen were tested for COVID-19 twice in a row. They were released after their results came negative on both occasions, he said.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Benazir Ahmed instructed all concerned to ensure maximum treatment for the COVID-19 infected police members. A special team has also been formed at all police units to look after the sick policemen.

All the policemen were infected with Covid-19 while discharging duties on the frontline.

They were admitted the police hospital where they recovered from the deadly disease after treatment.

A total of 1,878 police personnel were infected with coronavirus in Bangladesh as of Tuesday.

Of them, 865 are from the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) alone.

Meanwhile, seven members of the law enforcement died of COVID-19, the sources said.
