Former footballer Golam Rabbani Helal dies

Golam Rabbani Helal, a former national footballer and Dhaka Abahani Director, die on Saturday after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He was 67.

Helal, also a member of Bangladesh Football Federation (BAF), breathed his last at noon at Square Hospital where he had been kept on life support since last Thursday.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.

 Helal will be buried at Azimpur Graveyard after his Namaz-e-Janaza at Abahani Club ground after Asr prayers.

He played for the national football team from 1979 to 1985. 

After his retirement from football, Helal was made the director of Dhaka Abahani. He also served BAF as an executive committee member from 2008. 

Meanwhile, Football Federation President Kazi Salahuddin expressed deep shock at the death of Helal.

In a condolence message, he prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed his profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
