Dhaka University (DU) authorities have decided to bring all of their students under health insurance.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Deans’ Committee held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Tuesday with Vice-chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman in the chair.
A six-member committee was formed with DU Treasurer Prof Dr Kamal Uddin as its head to formulate policies to bring all students under the health insurance.
The initiative will also contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and climb up in world rankings of universities.
Meanwhile, the university has decided to continue academic activities through online classes during the coronavirus outbreak.
The Dean’s committee asked the departments and institutes to prepare a database for achieving 17 goals and 169 targets of SDGs.
They were also asked to submit the database by June 30 to DU Registrar Enamuzzman.
