Nafees Iqbal, former national cricketer and elder brother of Tigers’ ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, his wife, child and mother have been detected with coronavirus.
Family sources confirmed the matter to Somoy News on Saturday, saying Nafees, 34, was first diagnosed with Covid-19 a number of days ago.
Later, his wife, child and mother also tested positive for the virus, the sources said.
However, they have no symptoms other than fever and they were receiving treatment staying at their Kazir Deuri residence in Chattogram city.
Nafees distributed cash assistance among local cricket coaches at the initiative of Tamim recently. Soon after that, he tested positive for coronavirus.
Nafees who made debut in November 2003 for Bangladesh played 11 Tests and 16 ODIs.
Former Tigers’ captain and MP from Narail-2 constituency Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and ational left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam Apu also tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday.
Mashrafe confirmed the matter in a post on his official Facebook page in the afternoon, saying, “Today (Saturday), my result came COVID-19 positive. Everyone please pray for me so that I get well soon.”
The pacer also said he is receiving treatment staying at home and following necessary rules.
Meanwhile, Apu said he went to Narsingdi last week to distribute relief and fell sick after returning from there.
