Lutfor Rahman, a member of the Swadhin Bangla Football Team, passed away on Monday morning.
He breathed his last at his Jashore residence around 8:45am.
Lutfor, also general secretary of Bangladesh Sports Association formed in Mujibnagar, had been bedridden after suffering a stroke in 2018.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina provided an assistance of Tk 30 lakh to him in July last year.
Lutfor played for the Jashore district football team from 1965 to 1975.
He started his professional career through joining the East Pakistan Board team in 1968. He joined Dhaka Wari Club in 1969 and captained the team from 1970.
Lutor took part in 16 matches being part of the Swadhin Bangla Football Team during the Liberation War in 1971.
After the country’s independence, he played a match against FC Dynamo Minsk of Russia in 1973 as a member of Bangladesh National Football Team.
