Awami League Advisory Council member Amir Hossain Amu has been made spokesperson of the ruling party-led 14-party alliance following the death of Mohammed Nasim.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader made the announcement at an online briefing on Wednesday.
He said party President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina bestowed the duty upon Amu following consensus with leaders of all the alliance components.
Awami League leader and former Health Minister Mohammed Nasim, who suffered a stroke while undergoing treatment for coronavirus, passed away at a city hospital on June 13.
On June 5, Nasim who served as the health and family welfare minister of the last Awami League government underwent a successful surgery after his condition worsened following the stroke while undergoing treatment.
In 2008, Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury was made spokesperson of the 14-party alliance.
Later, Nasim took over the charge after she fell ill.
