Of the 152 Bangladeshi nationals who were denied entry to Italy and sent back from airport, 147 have been sent on institutional quarantine at the Hajj Camp in the city’s Ashkona area while the five others fled.

A Qatar Airways flight carrying them landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 2:35am on Friday.

Those who were sent back from Italy were taken to the Hajj Camp while the rest were allowed to go home from the airport.

However, five of the Italy-returnees were found missing at the airport.

No coronavirus symptoms were found in the bodies of the returnees in primary examinations at the airport.

Italy sent back the Bangladeshis from the airport after some of them were detected with coronavirus.

A flight landed at Fiumicino Airport in Rome around 1pm local time on Wednesday.

Earlier, another flight went there on Monday when some Bangladeshis were detected with coronavirus.

Later, Italy suspended the flight operation with Bangladesh for a week.

As the flight operation remains on with Qatar, Bangladeshis who went to Italy on a Qatar Airways flight on Wednesday were supposed to be allowed to enter the country.

However, Italy did not allow them to enter the country and instead sent them back.
