The body of former Home Minister and Awami League Presidium member Advocate Sahara Khatun was brought back home early Saturday from Thailand.
A special flight of US-Bangla Airlines carrying her mortal remains landed at Shahjalal International Airport around 2am, said its general manager (public relations) Kamrul Islam.
The ruling party leader, who died on Thursday night, is set to be buried at Banani Graveyard today (Saturday) after a namaz-e-janaza at 11am, said her nephew Mojibur Rahman.
She breathed her last around 11:25pm on Thursday (July 9) at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok.
Earlier on Monday, she was taken to Thailand for better treatment.
On June 2, Sahara, a ruling party MP from Dhaka-18 seat was admitted to United Hospital in the city with fever, allergy, and old-age complications.
However, the report of her coronavirus test came negative.
On June 19, Sahara Khatun was moved to the intensive care unit of United Hospitals Ltd as her condition worsened.
As her condition improved, she was shifted from ICU to HDU (High Dependency Unit) on June 22.
On the morning of June 26, she was again taken back to the ICU as her condition deteriorated.
