Maj (retd) Khaled Akhtar, chairman of HM Ershad Trust, and a former presidium member of Jatiya Party, succumbed to coronavirus on Saturday.
He breathed his last around 6:00 am at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), said Khandaker Deloar Jalali, Jatiya Party chairman's deputy press secretary.
He said Khaled Akhtar had been diagnosed with dengue over a month back before contracting the coronavirus.
Joining Jatiya Party, Khaleda had been appointed as Ershad’s personal secretary. He was later made Jatiya Party treasurer and then a member of its presidium.
Party’s current chairman GM Quader, however, dropped him from the party presidium after its ninth national council following the death of Ershad.
Jatiya Party founder HM Ershad formed a trust and donated all of his assets to it before his death, and Khaled was made its chairman.
