The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh breached the 183,000-mark while the death toll from the deadly virus mounted to 2,352 on Sunday.
In a regular press briefing, Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said 2,666 more coronavirus cases were detected during past 24 hours as of Sunday.
She said the total number of coronavirus cases in the country now increased to 183,795 with the fresh ones.
Prof Nasima said 11,059 samples were tested in 77 labs across the country during the period.
With this, a total of 943,524 samples have so far been tested in the country.
In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 24.11 percent while the infection rate is 19.54 percent against total tests carried out so far, she said.
Besides, Prof Dr Nasima said 47 more people died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, climbing the death toll in the country to 2,352.
Of the new deceased, 36 are men and 11 are women. Among the total dead, 1,860 are men and 492 are women.
Dhaka saw the highest causalities with 23 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Besides, six each died in Chattogram, and Khulna, four each in Rajshahi, Sylhet, and two each in Rangpur and Barishal divisions during the same day.
Nasima said record 5,580 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 93,614.
The DGHS additional director general also said against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 50.80 while the mortality rate is 1.21 percent.
On Saturday, Bangladesh reported 30 deaths from coronavirus and 2,686 cases.
