Mizanur Rahman, deputy commissioner (DC) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (South zone), has died of Covid-19 or coronavirus.
He breathed his last at the Central Police Hospital in the capital Rajarbagh at 3:40am on Monday while undergoing treatment, said CMP Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman.
He said Mizanur had been undergoing treatment at the Central Police Hospital since June 28 for corona infections.
He said the CMP DC was recently shifted to the ICU as his condition deteriorated.
Mizanur passed the 22nd BCS and joined the police department. He was the Superintendent of Police of Jhenaidah before transferring to Chattogram.
With Mizanur’s death, five policemen of CMP have so far died of corona.
