The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Bangladesh breached the 186,000-mark while the death toll from the deadly virus mounted to 2,391 on Monday.
In a regular press briefing, Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said 3,099 more coronavirus cases were detected during past 24 hours as of Monday.
She said the total number of coronavirus cases in the country now increased to, 186,894with the fresh ones.
Prof Nasima said 12,423 samples were tested in 77 labs across the country during the period. With this, a total of 955,947 samples have so far been tested in the country.
In comparison with the tests conducted in the last 24 hours, the infection rate is 24.95 percent while the infection rate 19.61 against total tests carried out so far, she said.
Besides, Prof Dr Nasima said 39 more people died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, climbing the death toll in the country to 2,391.
Of the new deceased, 30 are men and nine are women. Among the total dead, 1,890 are men 501are women.
Dhaka witnessed the highest causalities with 19 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Besides, seven died in Khulna, five in Chattogram, three in Barishal, two each in Rajshahi and Sylhet and one in Mymensingh divisions during the same day.
Nasima said 4,703 more patients recovered from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, taking the number of people making recovery to 98,317.
The DGHS additional director general also said against the total number of detected cases, the recovery rate is 52.06 while the mortality rate is 1.28 percent.
On Sunday, Bangladesh reported 47 deaths from coronavirus and 2,666 cases.
