Jamuna Group Chairman Nurul Islam Babul has succumbed to coronavirus. He was 74.
He died on Monday afternoon while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital in the city for coronavirus infections, family sources said.
Babul is survived by wife, a son, three daughters, a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
He tested positive for the coronavirus on June 14 and later he was admitted to the Evercare Hospital.
The Jamuna Group Chairman’s kidneys were damaged caused by the corona infections.
A 10-member medical board was formed, headed by Brigadier General (retd) Mahbud, a doctor of Evercare, to treat the eminent industrialist.
Apart from this, 4 specialist doctors from China and 2 specialist doctors from Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore gave advice through teleconference.
His wife is Salma Islam, a former state minister for women and children affairs. Son Shamim Islam is the managing director of Jamuna Group, daughters Rosalin Islam, Monica Islam and Sonia Islam are the directors of Jamuna Group.
