Language movement hero and veteran physician Sayeed Haider has died of corona virus. He was 95.
He breathed his last at Crescent Hospital in the capital’s Uttara around 3:45pm on Wednesday while undergoing treatment for the deadly virus infections, said his elder son Dr Ashraf Haider.
He will be buried at a graveyard at Uttara’s No-4 sector after Mahrib prayers following a Namaz-e-Janaza.
Born in 1925 in Pabna, Dr Sayeed Haider actively took part in the Language Movement in 1952.
As a student of Dhaka Medical College, he along with the fellow students built the first Shaheed Minar at Dhaka Medical College on the night of 23 February.
