The government has reappointed Fazle Kabir as the governor of Bangladesh Bank for the next two years.
The Financial Institutions Division under the Finance Ministry issued a notification on Wednesday in this regard.
According to the notification, Fazle Kabir was reappointed as per the Bangladesh Bank Act (amendment) 2020.
His appointment will remain in force until July 3, 2022 subject to fulfilment of age limit of 67 of the governor.
Fazle Kabir’s contractual appointment ended on July 3 with the fulfilment of age limit of 65 years.
But the government brought amendment to the existing Bangladesh Bank Order 1972 raising the age limit of the governor of the central bank to 67 and reappointed Fazle Kabir as the governor.
