JKG chairman Sabrina Arif Chowdhury and her husband Ariful Haque Chowdhury who is JKG’s CEO blamed each other during interrogation for their fraudulence in Covid-19 sample test reports.
Sources at the intelligence said the duo, however, confessed to their misdeeds in providing corona test certificates.
According to the sources, Arif claimed that he got involved in the malpractice because of Sabrina while Sabrina divulged information that many more of the JKG and Oval Groups were involved in the fraudulence.
Seven more directors of Sabrina and Arif’s Oval Group are expected to be interrogated in this regard shortly, the sources added.
On June 23, the Tejgaon police arrested six people, including Ariful Haque Chowdhury, the CEO of the JKG, on charges giving false corona test results and charging money for the test violating the terms of an agreement with the health directorate.
JKG chairman Sabrina Sharmin Hussain alias Sabrina Arif Chowdhury was arrested on the same charge on Sunday.
On Wednesday, Arif Chowdhury was placed on a four-day remand in a case filed over deceiving people by giving false coronavirus test reports.
Besides, Dr Sabrina was put on a three-day remand by a court on Monday.
Earlier on Sunday, she was dismissed from the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases by the Health Ministry.
According to a statement of the ministry, police arrested Sabrina for allegedly engaging in fake corona test reports and embezzling huge money.
Being a government official, holding the post of chairman of a non-government organization without the permission of the government and embezzling money is a punishable offense.
Sabrina was called to the Tejgaon DC office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Sunday for questioning. After the primary grilling, Sabrina was arrested.
