Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a two-year contract with the members of the ICC U-19 World champions Bangladesh team.
BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon came up with the announcement at a press conference at BCB media conference room on Wednesday.
As per the contract, each of the Junior Tigers, who won the ICC U-19 World Cup, will get Tk 1 lakh per month in next two years from the BCB.
“It’s only a two-year contract for now. We’ll review their performance after the expiry of contact,” said Papon.
He said the Junior Tigers’ achievement has so far the best one in the country’s history of cricket. “They’ve taken our cricket to a new height.”
Papon said the National Cricket Team also achieved many thinning for the country in the past and they have the ability to do so. “They’re not performing well now may be for some reasons. I hope they overcome it.”
Earlier, the Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team, which won the U-19 World Cup, returned home like heroes on Wednesday afternoon.
The BCB high officials accorded them a warm reception at the airport.
The flight carrying the World Cup victorious Young Tigers landed at Hazrat Shahjalal Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 4:55pm.
BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon and State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell along with other officials received them at the airport with flowers.
The also entertained the players with sweetmeats.
Meanwhile, several thousand people thronged the airport to welcome the Young Tigers who have brightened the country’s image by wing the U-19 World Cup.
The enthusiastic fans raised slogans ‘Bangladesh’, ‘Bangladesh’ ‘Bangladesh’, expressing their joy and as the World Cup winners returned home.
From the airport, the cricketers reached Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium riding a special ‘Champion Bus’ of BCB.
The Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team lifted the trophy of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2020 in South Africa defeating fourth-time champions India by three wickets in the final on Sunday.
