Bangladesh is witnessing a falling positivity rate of coronavirus infection over the last several weeks registering 12.09 percent on Wednesday.

The overall positivity rate stands at 19.36 percent in the country.

Besides, the recovery rate continued to rise with the recuperation of a good number of people every day.

In the last 24 hours, 2,375 more patients recovered from Covid-19 to push the national recovery rate to 72.36 percent. In total, 247,969 people have so far made recovery from the virus.

Bangladesh has one of the lowest mortality rates in the world -- 1.41 percent.

Meanwhile, confirmed coronavirus cases in the country have reached 342,671 with a fresh spike of 1,615 infections in the last 24 hours.

Besides, 21 people lost their battle against the virus during the period to raise the fatalities linked to Covid-19 to 4,823.

Of the new deceased, 16 are men and five are women. Among the total dead, 3,760 or 77.96 percent are men while 1,063 or 22.04 percent are women.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information through a press release in the afternoon.

During the period, 13,360 samples were tested in 94 labs across the country. With this, a total of 1,770,106 samples have so far been tested in the country.

On Tuesday, Bangladesh reported 43 deaths and 1,724 infections from coronavirus after testing 14,050 samples.

Meanwhile, casualties from coronavirus have reached 939,185 across the world as of Wednesday morning.

Besides, the virus has so far sickened 29,724,918 people in different countries, according to Worldometer.

Of the currently infected 7,246,624 patients, 7,185,709 are in mild condition while 60,915 are in serious or critical condition.

So far, 21,539,109 people have made recovery from the disease in different countries.

The US is the worst-hit country with highest cases and deaths in the world at 6,788,147 and 200,197 respectively while India has 2nd highest cases of 5,018,034 and Brazil has 2nd highest deaths of 133,207.
