DU entry tests to be held in divisional cities

The Dhaka University (DU) authorities have decided to decentralise their entry tests and cut the total marks to 100 for the 2020-21 academic year amid the coronavirus prevalence.

Admissions tests that used to take place in Dhaka will now be held in all divisional cities.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the DU Admission Committee held on Monday morning.

The meeting also decided to change the distribution of marks of the admission tests.

Admission tests will be held for 100 marks for ‘K’, ‘Kha’, ‘Ga’ and ‘Gha’ units. The marks include 40 for multiple choice questions and 40 for writing while 20 will be given based on the results of Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC).

Deans of the faculties concerned will fix the duration and subject-wise questionnaires of the tests.

The HSC and equivalent examinations will not be held this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The results of these tests will be published in December on the basis of the results of the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent, and Junior School Certificate and Junior Dakhil Certificate examinations.

The university admission process will begin later.
