Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said there will be no reshuffle in the Cabinet during this coronavirus pandemic.
He made the remarks while briefing reporters on the contemporary issues at his ministry.
Quader, also Awami League general secretary, said the Religious Affairs Ministry has got a state minister.
“He’s a good person…. I don’t know about any further change in the Cabinet at this moment. This solely depends on the prime minister.”
He said the prime minister does not think there is any need of change in the Cabinet on an emergency basis.
Mentioning that the coronavirus situation is taking a turn for the worse, the minister said the government will go for tough decisions if necessary to tackle it.
“People’s lives come first. What is the use of livelihood if there’s no life? The infection is rising every day.
The government remains prepared. The prime minister herself is monitoring it.”
He also warned that those who do not wear masks will be fined.
Asked whether the country will return to lockdown again, Quader said restrictions might be slapped but nothing like this (lockdown).
Health guidelines are not being followed in rural areas at all.
We’ll go for tough decisions if necessary after seeing the nature of the infection.”
