A patient died in the isolation ward of Khagrachhari Sadar Hospital on Wednesday night.

The patient, a youth aged 30, died around 8:45pm, said Civil Surgeon of the district Dr Nupur Kanti Das.

Following the death of the youth, one physician, two nurses and one aya have been sent to home-quarantine as they came in contact with the patient, he said.

Dr Purnajibon Chakma, resident medical officer of the hospital, said the youth was taken to the hospital around 2pm on Wednesday with respiratory problem and sore throat.

Later, he was sent to the isolation unit of the hospital where he died while under treatment, he said.
