Ritesh Chakma has been made new jailer of Kashimpur Central Jail-1 in Gazipur.

An order, signed by Inspector General of Prisons Brig Gen M Mominur Rahman Momin was issued on Sunday in this regard.

Ritesh, who was serving as the jailer of Magura District Jail, replaced Nur Mohammad Mredha who was withdrawn over allowing Hallmark Group General Manager Tushar Ahmed to spend time alone with a woman inside the jail.

Tushar, brother-in-law of Hallmark Managing Director Tanvir Mahmud, allegedly spent 45 minutes with a woman alone in the cabin of a prison official on January 6.

The woman was allegedly escorted to the cabin by Deputy Jailer Golam Saqlain and two others. Senior Jail Superintendent Ratna was present at her office at that time.

The incident, which took place on January 6, came to light on Friday after a television channel aired a report based on the CCTV footage.

In the video clip, Tushar was seen walking casually wearing a black shirt in the office area of the prison in the afternoon on the day. Few moments later, a woman in a purple three-piece dress entered the prison from outside at 12:55pm.

It was also seen that Deputy Jailer Saqlain himself was receiving the woman at the entrance and escorting her to the room where meeting took place.

At one point, Saqlain left the room and returned again along with Tushar after around 10 minutes. Later, he left the room allowing Tushar to spend time with the woman alone. Two probe committees were formed to look into the incident.

Five prison officials -- Senior Jail Superintendent Ratna Roy, Jailer Nur Mohammad, Deputy Jailer Md Golam Saqlain, Sergeant Instructor Md Abdul Bari and Assistant Chief Jailer Md Khalilur Rahman -- have so far been withdrawn in connection with the incident.
