As part of investigation into the killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan in police firing, a public hearing will be held in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Sunday (August 16) with the participation of witnesses.
The probe body formed by the Home Ministry will hold the public hearing at the office of Rohingya camp in-charge at Shamlapur under Baharchhara union from 10am.
Confirming the matter on Wednesday night, committee member and Additional District Magistrate of Cox’s Bazar Shajahan Ali said they will hear the witnesses of the incident on the day.
Sinha was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check-post in Teknaf upazila on July 31.
On August 2, the Home Ministry formed a three-member investigation committee to look into the incident. Later on August 4, the probe panel was reconstituted with Additional Divisional Commissioner of Chattogram Mohammad Mizanur Rahman as its head.
Sinha’s elder sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on August 5 over the killing.
Seven police personnel, including former officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradip Kumar Das and Baharchhara police camp in-charge Liyakat Ali, were suspended in connection with the killing.
