Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Friday took seven accused, including four policemen, on remand in the case filed over the killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan in police firing.
Rab members took them under their custody from Cox’s Bazar jail in the morning, said Rab Director (legal and media wing) Lt Col Ashik Billah.
The seven accused were placed on a seven-day remand on Wednesday.
The policemen who were remanded are assistant sub-inspector Liton Mia, and constables Safanur Rahman, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah.
The rest three are Mohammad Ayas, M Nurul Amin and Mohammad Nazimuddin of Marishbunia under Baharchhara union of Teknaf. All of them are witnesses in cases filed by police over the killing of the former army official.
They publicised in the area after the murder of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan that he was a robber.
Rab members arrested Ayas, Nurul Amin and Nazimuddin on Tuesday.
However, suspended officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station Pradip Kumar Das, inspector of Baharchhara Police Investigation Centre Liyakat Ali and sub-inspector Nanda Dulal Rakkhit will be interrogated later.
On August 6, a Cox’s Bazar court placed the trio on a seven-day remand for interrogation over the killing of the former army official.
However, their remand is yet to be executed.
Sinha was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check-post in Teknaf upazila on July 31.
His elder sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on August 5.
