Gonoshasthaya Kendra Trustee Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury received Covid-19 vaccine on Sunday, on the first day of the mass rollout of the jab across the country.
He was given the vaccine at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
After taking the vaccine, Dr Zafrullah said there is no fear about the jab.
He also urged the country’s people to receive the jab without any fear.
Earlier in the morning, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque inaugurated the countrywide vaccination.
The minister opened the inoculation from the Directorate General of Health Services at 10am.
A total of 2,402 teams are working at 1,015 hospitals throughout the country. Of them, there are 206 teams in 50 hospitals in the capital.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), around 3.28 lakh people have registered through website www.surokkha.gov.bd as of Saturday for the vaccination.
Only registered people can take the vaccine at the vaccination centres from 8am to 2:30pm.
Bangladesh has a plan to inoculate 35 lakh people against the virus in the first phase.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the nationwide coronavirus programme on January 25 when 26 front-line fighters took the jab.
The following day, another 541 front liners received the coronavirus vaccine.
